Alyssa + Liko’s emotive Oahu destination wedding photography in film and digital.
I was so honored by this opportunity to travel to Hawaii and document Liko and Alyssa’s wedding in North Shore, Oahu! So many things about this intimate wedding made me grateful to witness it. These two planned a celebration that honored their culture, stylistic tastes, families, and everything that makes their love story unique. Keep reading to learn all about this elevated, joy-filled weekend.
To begin with, Alyssa and Liko welcomed their guests with an intimate dinner at a stunning oceanfront property. Family and friends gathered, greeted the bride and groom, and shared a meal to kick off the weekend’s celebration. The gorgeous beach view and the slowly setting sun created the perfect atmosphere.
During the evening, I stole away the soon-to-be-wed couple for a mini portrait session on the beach. We ran along the shore, capturing gorgeous, romantic shots full of all that radiant pre-wedding anticipation. The sky decided to show off for us, too, with a breathtaking rainbow peeking out between light rain showers. Overall, this welcome dinner was a lovely way to start this Oahu destination wedding photography experience.
The next day, Liko and Alyssa’s wedding day dawned with a blue sky and the sun shining. Their venue sat perfectly, overlooking the lush green valley, and everything aligned to showcase all of Oahu’s natural beauty. As the bride and groom eagerly prepared for their big day, I snapped photos of all the little details.
Alyssa’s bridal look will forever live rent-free in my mind. Her Katherine Tash gown was absolutely gorgeous, but what truly stole the show was her grandma’s forty-seven-year-old vintage wedding veil. I’ll never forget the feeling of photographing this immaculate lace headpiece.
Their traditional Hawaiian ceremony was full of intention, honor, and beauty. Liko is from Hawaii, so this couple made it a priority to fully embrace the culture and beauty of the islands. As a result, their friends and family witnessed their union in a setting that couldn’t have been more beautiful!
After the ceremony, the remainder of the night was very relaxed and easygoing—just how Alyssa and Liko wanted it. The bride and groom spent quality time with their friends and family, enjoyed their guests’ heartfelt speeches, and savored the incredible food and drinks. As the sun set, the valley glowed with golden hues. This added even more elegance to the natural yet elevated décor full of texture and subtle color. Eventually, they kicked off the reception with a champagne tower, and everyone was ready to party. Espresso martinis circulated the dance floor, shoes came off, and everyone had the time of their lives!
On the whole, Alyssa and Likos’s wedding truly exemplifies why I love what I do. As a destination elopement and wedding photographer, I get to witness the culture, love, family, tradition, beauty, and design perfectly collide. I can’t explain the emotions or excitement I feel, but I am deeply passionate about artistically documenting every detail.
