Tessa + Connor’s luxuriously chic Detroit wedding.

This stylish, moody wedding is truly one of my favorites I’ve worked on to date. I still feel so privileged to have been a part of it. The collaborative artistry created by all the vendors for this wedding makes me so incredibly proud. Together, we successfully brought this chic yet timeless vision to life in the most poetically beautiful way.

Intention and Beauty in Every Detail

To begin with, Tessa and Connor booked me for an engagement photography session in downtown Los Angeles. I felt the city setting perfectly complimented the setting for their upcoming wedding in Detroit. Plus, I loved the opportunity to get to know this couple before their wedding day. Tessa and Connor have deep roots in Detroit. So, their choice of venue, the Shinola Hotel, felt like a perfect reflection of their relationship and personal taste. It also worked so well with the overall tone they wanted for their wedding. The dark, moody accents throughout the hotel allowed Tessa to illuminate the space in both her bridal looks. She looked genuinely breathtaking in her two Danielle Frankel gowns and bridal accessories. And her stunning Gucci shoes elevated her looks even more.

The groom, Connor, also looked incredible for this chic Detroit wedding. He was as handsome as ever in his custom black tux, which he paired with a timeless Shinola watch. Throughout their decor and floral arrangements, Tessa and Connor incorporated many hand-drawn details and olive-green accents. And then, when the guests arrived in their colorful attire, it added just the pop of color this venue needed.

A Masterful Collaboration

From the start, I knew this wedding day would be an absolute masterpiece thanks to Jeannene Lillie Events’ detailed planning. Jeannene put her heart and soul into the thoughtfully curated design and execution of this wedding. Whether you plan to have your wedding in Detroit or elsewhere, I cannot recommend her enough! Her work is just that incredible.

After a beautifully moving ceremony, it was time to celebrate Tessa and Connor’s union! The candlelit reception was romantic and moody, with long, family-style tables. All the guests cheered and celebrated the newlyweds. I can’t fully describe the incredible energy in that room. I was so honored to witness the love and deep support everyone present had for Tessa and Connor. It was overwhelming in the best possible way.

All in all, Tessa and Connor’s chic Detroit wedding was a true testament to my taste for editorial wedding photography with a documentary approach. My blend of film and digital photography authentically captures true-to-tone colors and lends itself to a romantic kind of nostalgia. So, it perfectly complemented this event’s overall feel and design. Tessa and Connor’s unique vision and trust in my artistic eye inspired me to step out of my comfort zone and create beyond what I’d ever done. Altogether, I am forever grateful to these two beautiful souls for that and this incredible gallery.
